Engaged, not enraged; How charity investors can shape the banks they hold Banks have been ethical investors' oldest controversy - from usury to misselling to fossil-fuel financing - and yet most charity portfolios still own them, let alone have to use them on a daily basis. This session sets out why that's the right call, walks through Epworth's recent engagements with the sector, and makes the case that constructive shareholder pressure achieves more than the activism that grabs the headlines. Banking innovation and next-generation donors How will the next generation choose to give—and what does that mean for charities navigating a changing banking and payments landscape? In this session, Lloyds Bank will share Market Intelligence insights into donation behaviour across channels, regions and seasons, and how charities can use data to build more personalised, trusted and inclusive giving experiences. We’ll explore the role of banking innovation—from Open Banking and Pay by Bank to emerging Variable Recurring Payments—in reducing friction, lowering costs and enhancing donor journeys. The session will also address key ethical considerations, including consent, fraud prevention and protecting vulnerable supporters.
