Event Overview

This half-day, in-person event is aimed at Finance Leads, Finance Directors and Charity Board members interested in—or leading on—ESG and sustainability reporting. Delivered in partnership with the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) and Bates Wells, it will explore current developments, emerging practices and the evolving regulatory landscape, while also gauging interest in a dedicated CFG Special Interest Group (SIG). Delegates will hear insights from the investment sector and consider how established approaches to sustainability reporting can be applied in a charity context, alongside updates on UK corporate reporting, the Charities SORP 2026 and legal considerations. The session will conclude with an interactive discussion, giving attendees the opportunity to share experiences and help shape future support.

Event Context

Sustainability frameworks have largely been developed for the for-profit sector, focusing on Profit, People and Planet and primarily serving investors. For charities, these models require adaptation to reflect purpose-driven missions and distinct operating structures. The Charities SORP 2026 introduces ESG-related reporting requirements for larger (Tier 3) charities, while new UK Sustainability Reporting Standards (SRS) are being considered for wider application beyond large companies, potentially including charitable organisations.
